Counterpoint

Ilayaraja explains what a counter point is – Here.

He says “More than one note sounded together is harmony, more than one melody sounded together is counterpoint” and proceeds to give an example that he constructed to explain to Vaali what he wants.

Male : Pon thaan nee

Female : Manjam arugil varuvaayo

Together, it reads  Pon manjam thaan arugil varuvaayo

Finally, the song which came out was En Kanmani from Chittu Kuruvi. Watch for the counterpoint between the two Sivakumars  !
