Tonight’s Downton Abbey episode was quite predictable but also strangely quite moving. The whole Mrs Hughes-cancer arc was beautifully done, and even Carson’s cliched  singing at the end fitted in. Phyllis Logan is a brilliant actress, and I am very glad she’s not dying in the series, well, at-least not right away. And Edith’s “I’m to be an old spinster and they get up for breakfast” was another moment of greatness.  It’s a relief they ended Matthew’s “can I or can’t I” dilemma. They should follow this act  by just killing off Bates and maybe O’Brien or the evil Thomas or all of them.
